Robert Knight (b.1973, USA) - Sleepless | Untitled (7 hours, 23 minutes, January 1, 2008)
Great thanks to artandopinion for this Monday to introduce us “Sleepless” by one of her favorite photographers Robert Knight. Through a series of photographs, layered audio recordings and video, Sleepless examines the contradiction between our expectations about sleep and its nocturnal actuality. [It] reveals a state of restlessness through the ethereal and translucent bodies which are captured during long-exposure nighttime shots. The resultant images are nighttime narratives—stories of our night’s sleep which suggest a contemporary sleep crisis in our society. (cf. Sleepless statement)

Looking Into the Past, by Jason Powell, is a series of images that are made by finding old photographs of places, printing them out, and then holding the print up in the modern day location that the original photograph was taken.

And here’s another sunflower! I think this one’s my favorite out of the two photos I took.
Bought sunflowers today. Here’s a photo of one! I love the underside of sunflowers.
Project 365, Day 365 (12/31/10): Happy New Year’s Eve! :D Thus ends an entire year of photos. I learned a lot about photography, and regardless of my skill level (whatever it may be), I think I have a deeper love for photography now. I’m certainly looking at the world in a different way (frame by frame? lol). I love taking photos, and even though I don’t think I have the time to do another year of photos in 2011, I’m not going to stop taking and sharing photos every so often.
…that sort of sounds like some unofficial goodbye to tumblr (considering I signed up at first because I wanted a free place to share my P365 photos), but it so totally is not, lol. Fyi! :D
Thanks for liking/reblogging my photos this past year! <3 Wishing you all a peaceful new year. :)
Project 365, Day 364 (12/30/10): My younger sister and her best friend asked me to do a photoshoot of them, so all my photographic efforts were spent here today! These photos were taken at Research Park on the Texas A&M University campus. Click here to see them all. It’ll also give you a chance to see what College Station, TX looks like around the end of December! Sooo much color, and not a single drop of snow. Ridiculous!
Any comments on the photography is welcome and appreciated. Thanks! :)
Where are my pants? :|
Project 365, Day 295 (10/22/10): I think this picture turned out awesome! It looked okay as a color photo, but in black/white, I lovvve the contrast. And, y’know, in case you can’t figure it out, that’s me, lol.
Project 365, Day 176 (06/25/10): I recently chopped off all my hair (8 inches!), but I never took a proper picture of my new haircut. Then the other day, I was looking at old pictures of myself, and omg, my hair is really short, compared to how it used to go past the middle of my back! So, here yall go. Gratuitous picture of yours truly. Well, more specifically, my hair, lol.
It’s a little shocking looking at how short I cut it (and this is about a month after my haircut!)…I think I might want to grow it out a little bit! =/
My favorite animal. <3
Project 365, Day 147 (05/27/10): I’ve been waiting ages to take this photo! I didn’t want anyone else (like random students walking by) to be in it, so I finally snapped this after 5:00PM (practically zero students are on-campus now because the semester’s over, and summer school hasn’t started yet). Anyway, this is a photo of the giant Aggie ring (see my Aggie ring here!) in front of the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center, aka Texas A&M University’s building for The Association of Former Students. It is absolutely beautiful in person; I might take a few more shots of it for this project before I leave College Station, TX in August!
Project 365, Day 145 (05/25/10): I think these are some of my favorite photos this year. We decided to grill some steaks and vegetables for dinner, and when we got the fire started, I took some awesome photos. I can’t even properly describe how much I love my camera, btw. And dinner was awesome, in case you’re curious. :)
EDIT: Tumblr’s messing with the sizing of these! I’ve uploaded them to my own server: One, two, three, four. :)
Project 365, Day 144 (05/24/10): Does the bird have large talons? :|
Never thought I’d get to use that Napoleon Dynamite quote, lol. Anyway, I’ve no idea what kind of bird this is; I took a walk after work, and spotted the bird about 60 feet away. Hey, 26x zoom. Love youuu. <3
